LIGHT SIDE

A fellow finds himself in front of St. Peter at the golden gate.

St. Peter explains it is not easy to get to heaven. There are some criteria before entry.

He asks the guy are you religious? Gave money to the church? Gave money to the poor? Help his neighbour?

The fellow answers “no”.

Peter says, “look, work with me, I am trying to help you, think”.

The fellow says, ”Well, I came out of a store and found this old lady surrounded by a dozen bikers. They were shoving her around, and abusing her. I got so mad I threw my grocery bags down, fought through the crowd, and got her purse back. After helping her to her feet, I went to the biggest, baddest biker and told him how despicable, cowardly, and mean he was. Then I spat in his face.”

“Wow”, said peter, “ That’s very impressive. When did this happen”?

“oh, about five minutes ago”, replied the fellow.

WARNING

Here’s the latest tactic by car thieves.

Heads up everyone! Please keep this circulating. You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into reverse when you look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space. You notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is

obstructing your view.

When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car jackers appear out of nowhere, jumps into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car. And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

Men, you too are at risk. You can say good bye to your briefcase, and if your like many guys, who keep their wallet in the glove compartment, with your driver’s licence, credit cards, plus.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away, remove the paper later and be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

CLEANING TIPS

Before washing, it is essential that all stains be removed.

Sometimes Soap or hot water will set a stain and make its removal impossible.

Commercial cleaning supplies can aggravate your allergies and have long terms effects on your health. You can save on your house cleaning bill with very good results using less toxic substances.

Ø Ammonia – cuts grease, cleans windows, Strip wax off floors.

Ø Baking soda – cleans, deodorizes, polishes, and removes stains.

Ø Bleach – whitens practically anything, removes mould and mildew.

Ø Cornstarch – cleans and deodorizes carpets and rugs.

*Rug Stains: Use a solution of half water, half white vinegar.

Shirt or blouse stain: Just a little of water and cornstarch will remove.

*Grass stains: Dampen stain with cold water, and rub with plain bar soap. (One without moisturizers). The stain should come right out. Then wash normally.

*Toilet bowl: use tang, or sprinkle baking soda into the bowl.

Drizzle with vinegar. Scour with toilet brush. Cleans and deodorizes

Berry Stain: Place the stained part over a pot and pour boiling water over it from a height of about 2 feet so as to strike the stain with force. Plunge the stained part up and down in the hot water until the stain is removed. If stain is persistent, use Javelle water.

Peach Stains: are not easy to remove. Be careful not to wipe hands with peach-stains on a good napkin, towel or apron. Stretch stain over a pot of hot water and apply javelle water with a medicine-dropper. Do not allow it remain too long in contact with the fibres.

Javelle water rots even cotton and linen. Apply oxalic-acid solution to neutralize the alkali and rinse thoroughly in hot water. Several applications may be necessary.

Tea And Coffee Stains. Follow the same procedures as for berry stains above.

Blood and Meat-Juice. Never put in hot water as that sets the stain. Soak at once in cold water. Rub with soap and wash. A paste of raw starch mixed with cold water will remove these stains on flannel, blankets, and heavy goods. Repeat until stain disappears.

Egg-Stain:

Wash in cold water, then warm water and soap.

Mix 50-50 water, white vinegar. Great for stubborn carpet stains.

LIGHTSIDE

A man is driving up a narrow mountain road. A woman is driving down the same road. As they pass each other the woman leans out her window and yells, “PIG!”

The man leans out his window and yells, “STUPID!”

He keeps driving up the Mountain, comes around a corner, and smashes his car after slamming into a pig in the middle of the road.

Wood Furniture: To remove water stains, dab white toothpaste onto the stain. Allow the paste to dry and then gently buff with a soft cloth.

COOKING TIPS, INFORMATION

WARNING: DEEP-FRYING CRAZE

People can do themselves serious injury attempting to deep-fry their turkey. In the past deep-frying has burned down houses and put cooks in hospital.

Deep-fried turkey is juicy, and better tasting. However with this high risk method of cooking, besides the above, your turkey can end up charred by the resulting inferno.

There is an advantage of deep-frying due to its speed. Cooking time is 3 1/2 minutes per pound. A big turkey is done in less then an hour. If you are going to deep-fry your turkey use a commercial pressurized fryer, rather than vats on a stand.

An uncovered pan with a rack in the bottom gives the best results in roasting. Cooking time varies with preference.

For rare meat, 16 minutes per pound.

For medium meat, 22 minutes per pound.

For well done meat, 30 minutes per pound.

Add salt during or after cooking, not before. The salt flavour does not penetrate more then 1 inch. If the meat does not reach the desired colour during roasting, increase the heat to (500 F) for a few minutes before removing from the pan.

Methods of searing is subjecting the meat to a high temperature until it is nicely browned.

By Browning in an uncovered pan in a hot oven (450 F-500F).

By Browning in hot fat in a frying pan on the surface burner.

By Adding boiling water and cooking at boiling temperature until the outside of the meat has lost its red colour.

Reasons For Cooking Meat

To develop flavour.

To soften the connective tissue when present in large quantity. To kill any living organisms that may be present.

To make meatballs of even size, spread mixture in an ice cube tray and press the divider down to separate meat into uniform squares. Take out divider and shape squares lightly into balls.

Add a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice when making blueberry pie. Gives the flavour a pleasant lift.

When it comes to food, healthy living, etc., generally the information applies to both Canada and The U.S.A. Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating and the Food Safety and Nutritious Programs provide guidelines for save and nutritious eating to help improve and protect your health.

Big World of Warcraft Bags

Since reaching level 70 and buying my epic flying mount, I’ve been on the look out for bigger World of Warcraft bags to hold all my loot. When it comes to grinding and making gold, it’s best to take heed of the Horde in this matter who have a saying: ‘Da bigger da bags da better’!

As I’m hanging out less in the Pig & Whistle these days and spending more time in Outland, I’ve decided to partake in the hospitality of the World’s End Tavern in the Lower City of Shattrath and pose at the bar with the likes of Haris Pilton – socialite (someone who likes to pose in bars). Since patch 2.4.3 Haris is now able to sell you a 22 slot “Gigantique” Bag. This nifty looking number, hangs nicely off the shoulder and is perfect accessory for all level 70 Mages – but only if you can afford the 1200 gold!

If you have been following my blog over the months you will know that bags play an important part in game. Big bags allow players to grind for longer without the need to keep running back to town to sell the goods they hold or the nearest auction house to auction off gathered materials and loot.

The “Gigantique” bag is now the biggest general purpose bag on the market (excluding carfting bags which do come bigger), but if you don’t think a Haris Pilton original is worth the 1200g, there is still the option to go down market and opt for a 20 slot Primal Mooncloth bag which sells for around half the price at auction, depending on your server.

Now the nice thing about general purpose bags is that they are not tied to a particular character level. This means even low level characters can equip high-end bags with many slots such as the 16 slot Netherweave bag (around 4-5g at auction) and the 18 slot Imbued Netherweave bag (around 50g at auction).

Interestingly, the “Gigantique” bag is bind on equip, which means that in theory it can be traded in the Auction House. I’m sure that as more players with plenty of gold visit the World End Tavern and find Haris Pilton we may well see some of these bags up for sale. So far they have yet to appear at auction on my server.

Marcus Ty writes extensively on the art and craft of making World of Warcraft Gold. His tips and strategies are chronicled in The Journal of Marcus Ty – Gold Making Guide. Read his Blog World of Warcraft Gold Guide for many more articles on Warcraft.

How To Select A Good Running Shoe

Do you know running shoes can alter your speed and affect your knees, your back and your joints? Selecting the right running shoe can make you performance well. And if you follow these steps, you can find shoes that will have you running like an Olympic marathoner.

Step 1Find a good running shoe store. You can buy your shoe at the local mega-mart, but the sales professionals in a specialty store are better trained to help you pick the right shoe. Of course. You mustn’t go for a store who specializes leather shoes while you are looking for a pair of ugg boots, right?

Step 2Examine the soles of your old running shoes. Notice the spots where the shoes show wear from the road. This tells you where your foot falls every time it hits the ground.

Step 3Place your shoes side-by-side on a flat surface. If the shoes tilt in toward the middle, your new shoe probably needs more stability than your old shoe. If they tilt to the outside, you may have a high arch and your new shoes should have good shock absorption.

Step 4Look at the top of your shoe. If you can see an outline of your big or little toe, and you’ve noticed discomfort in those areas while running, you should try a larger or wider shoe.

Step 5Consider the amount of running you will be doing. This tells you whether you should buy an elite running shoe or a basic model. The more intense the running, the more money you’ll want to spend on the shoes.

Step 6Go to the running shoe store. Tell them what you’ve found out about your old shoes, or bring a pair with you. The employees should be able to “read” your old shoes and guide your choice. If not, you probably should find a different store.

Step 7Try out the shoes. Many stores will let you take a run up and down the street to audition the shoes. Try on as many shoes as it takes. Make sure you like the feel and fit of the shoe. Try out the new shoes for at least 10 minutes. This lets you know if the shoe maintains its comfort during wear.

Step 8Buy the best running shoes for your feet. When you find the right pair, don’t let them get away. Take them home and start breaking them in!

Buy Discount Golf Equipment Online

Sometimes quality and cheap price go hand in hand. Don’t question what I say. There are many online golf stores where you can buy discount golf clubs with high quality at the same time. But keep in mind the following two points:

Quality and Price
Any seller can give you discount golf clubs at any time of the year but stocking up at end-of-season summer clearance sales might be a good idea when golf shops are getting rid off inventory before winter.

Brands such as Nike, Adidas, Mizuno and Callaway sometimes have promotions and discounts on all their golf products, ranging from their golf clubs to golf balls and golf shirts to shoes. These discount golf products do not lack in quality just because they are on sale, as the same amount of effort is put into each product because they are backed by the manufacturer’s brand name.

Accessories
You could save money on golf apparel as even though it looks great to be in correct golf gear from head to toe, it is not necessary for your game. So do not scrimp on golf clubs. Rather, wear regular sports clothes on the course and save.

Also, know where to draw the line between fancy extras and core equipment. Often, salespeople might explain how a particular feature is a must-have, but your homework or advice from golfing buddies can prove otherwise.

Let me tell you this, there are also many discounted golf accessories, like golf bags and shoes that have already been launched during a particular time of high demand. Of course the market has then slumped a little and they have been forced to sell their equipment for less. There are so many ways to buy discount golf equipment and it’s imperative that you take advantage of all the offers you can find.

Good luck!

Inflation Hedge Super Duo: Precious Metals and Practical Skills

Food prices are on the rise along with all commodities. The reason is simple, natural resources are finite and the currency pigs in government and central banking, like Ben Bernanke, can print money ad infinitum. Simple.

Add in hoards of other distortions in our government-directed, over-regulated markets and we have some interesting situations. So, what’s one to do? Learn how to lower your cost of living as fast as you can, through   practical skills, or face extraordinary expenses in food and energy. That’s the first thing. Then, take your savings, like the U.S. dollar and all U.S. dollar denominated bonds, and buy gold and silver. Otherwise, you’re going to be screwed!

Seriously, sell bonds. Bill Grosse, Chief of Pimco, the world’s largest bond fund, is said to be 100% out of U.S. treasuries. Hold your savings in precious metals and maybe some solid conservative currencies like Canadian Dollars or Swiss Francs or Norwegian Krone. I am not saying these things are cheap, they are not, but the bonds and U.S. dollars face certain doom. Batten down the hatches.

As far as practical skills, one needs to develop skills that save him or her a buck. Shave your spending wherever you can. The Japanese are a prime example of a practically skilled population. Their government has done everything in its power to destroy their economy and they keep on keeping on, saving saving saving, month after month, and they’re wages are lower than in the west. Not only do they have to contend with lower wages, they pay very high prices for energy and transportation and they have numerous expensive government cash grabs to deal with too. The average Japanese you meet on the street is skilled. Cooking, sewing, auto repair and auto optimization, gardening, cleaning, basic home repair, how to build water and energy optimization systems, self-defence and home cures are all practical skills and knowledge that can reduce your cost of living dramatically, so you save more money, or have more money for things you wish to buy.

Parents: retirement planning should include raising practically skilled children!

It only makes sense. You bring them into the world and raise them with your labour and love and you form a relationship that lasts into your declining years, when you may want to call in a favour or two.

Anyway, get down to learning something useful for your own good because these prices are on the rise and the shit has hit the fan!

Why Diversification Is King in Investing

My best  stock market advice to you is to embrace the concept of investment diversification and the need to add small-cap stocks in an effort to increase the expected return of your portfolio.

I would like to discuss the concept of asset allocation as a critical part of any prudent portfolio management strategy.

Asset allocation refers to the asset mix of your portfolio, which is divided into the three major asset classes: cash; fixed income; and equities (stocks).

As the macro and micro factors change, as well as your investment objectives, you should rebalance your asset mix accordingly to the new conditions.

In general, without going into portfolio theory, the risk and expected return of an investment increases as you move along the spectrum from cash to fixed income to equities. The more risk assumed, the higher the expected rate of return, albeit this is not always the case in reality. For instance, adding penny stocks and micro-cap stocks could add to your total return.

The relationship between risk and return should be used as a guideline.

The proportion of each asset class within your portfolio is dependent on your individual risk profile. For instance, the more risk-adverse investors or those who are close to retirement may want a higher mix of fixed income/cash and to steer clear of too much equity. On the other hand, risk-tolerant investors or those investors who are young may want to take a more aggressive approach and maintain a higher mix of equities in conjunction with less fixed income/cash.

A general rule for asset allocation is that the weighting of the fixed income portion as a percentage of your total portfolio should approximate your age.

Let’s say you are 25 years old. The basic guideline tells us you should have about 25% of your assets in fixed income and up to 75% in equities. And, on the other end of the spectrum, a 50-year-old entering the final phase of his or her working life should have a conservative 50% weighting in fixed income securities. And, of course, a person at the retirement age of 65 should have a minimum of 65% in fixed income.

Keep in mind that this rule should only be used as a guideline and is not meant to be conclusive.

Prudent asset allocation tries to achieve the highest rate of return given the risk. The most basic of investing is to understand how to create an appropriate blend of equity, fixed income, and cash.

To determine your risk profile, you should first understand your investment personality.

Investors range from the ultra-conservative investor who wants to sleep at night to the highly aggressive speculator who thinks of the stock market as a roll of the dice. It is crucial that you stay within your risk boundaries if you are very conservative. For example, if you tend to get jittery when the stock market gyrates, you may want to focus on fixed income and less on stocks, otherwise you’ll be reaching for that bottle of “Prozac” a bit too often.

Asset allocation is often dependent on your age; but, in reality, understanding each person’s risk profile is also very important. The only rule that generally applies is that, the older you get, the less exposure to equities you should have, as you don’t want to risk your life savings for a hot tip.

Among market watchers, there’s an old saying in the market: Bulls make money, Bears make money, Pigs get slaughtered! Translation: Don’t get too greedy, and live within your risk profile.

It’s tempting to blow a big chunk of your holiday budget on a fancy hotel room. The truth is, unless you really are the high roller you imagine yourself to be, then the best room you’ll be able to afford at the top hotels will be the box room in the basement. The shrewd holiday maker will instead look at the more modest hotels in town and leverage the money saved on the cheaper room rates to bag themselves one of the top suites. Not only will you get a bigger room with better views – but you’ll be top of the pecking order when it comes to service from the hotel staff.

Love Thy Neighbour

OK, so you’ve got yourself a fancy room on the cheap. but your still filling up with green-eyed envy at the Olympic-sized pool of the swanky hotel across the road. Luckily there is a handy loophole that will grant you access to these splendours for a fraction of the price you’d be paying as a guest. Most hotels have restaurants open to non-guests with one of the perks being that it allows you to make use of the rest of the hotels facilities. Book yourself in for a light lunch and turn up armed with your beach towel and swimming costume. Then after you’ve eaten, relax by the pool for the whole afternoon, happy in the knowledge that everyone around you is paying a whole lot more for the privilege. This little trick is universal and works at pretty much any luxury hotel around the world.

Be a Guinea Pig

In resorts which are enjoying a rapid growth in tourism, new hotels are cropping up all the time. These fledging establishments should be viewed as easy prey by the experienced budget traveller. Usually room rates in these new hotels are massively discounted for the first few months, and throughout the first season, in order to get the business on it’s feet and the money flowing. Do some research on the new developments at your destination, if you spot somewhere you fancy then get in touch with them directly and you can find yourself enjoying top end accommodation on a shoe string budget.

Ask the Experts

The experts in question being the hotel staff, not the travel operator who will advise you with profit margins in mind. Establishing a good rapport with hotel staff and being inquisitive is your key to the best rooms, bookings at the best restaurants and a lot of good advice and money saving tips from people who know what they are talking about. You don’t have to wait until you check-in before you start accessing this knowledge. Take an interest on the phone whilst you are going through the reservation process and actually ask staff their opinions on which rooms have the best views, where the best place is to pick up cheap tickets and their suggestions on how to make the most of your holiday.

Get Googling

The more astute bargain hunters are already well aware that if you are going to spend big on the internet, there is more often than not an online voucher or discount code floating around somewhere on the web that will earn you a tidy saving if you have the wherewithal to hunt it down. Well this trick is becoming more and more prominent with travel offers and with a bit of pottering around on the pages of the big voucher websites you’ll have no trouble turning up something or other that can cut down the price of your holiday or, at worst, earn you something for nothing. From room upgrades, to flight discounts or even free extensions to your trip – you’d be a fool not to spend an hour or two searching for some bonus freebies.

The War on Rising Food Prices: A Pre-Emptive Strike – learn to cook

Whenever I hear some pin-headed newsperson or criminally insane Washington kleptocrat call out a war cry against a noun, like the war on illiteracy or the war on drugs, I chuckle a bit at their foolishness with regards to word choice.

But, I think it’s important to face fears, so I’ve entitled this article similarly by waging war on an economic phenomenon that we are experiencing now, that may be (definitely) being brought about by Government meddling into the currency markets – a.k.a printing trillions upon trillions of currency units, not just U.S. dollars either, everything paper.

On the hierarchy of needs, foods a pretty big deal in case you haven’t noticed.

Food prices and oil prices run virtually in tandem if you like looking at charts. As this new craziness, this latest effort to destroy our fellow man, really gets hot, oil prices will be stupid. It may become very impractical to drive a car and food prices will be aggravated times a thousand. Imagine a whole lot of very hungry Americans.

Enter frustration and rage.

So, what can you do? Outfit your entire living space with food producing plants and animals for starters. Whatever you can do to produce food, just learn how to do it. Or, if you live in a place where you have zero options for this, you just move the hell out of there, ok? Move somewhere sunny and wet, outfit your roof with solar water heaters and gardens, have rain barrels, cisterns, raised beds with mini plastic or glass green houses over them, chicken coop, cold storage, root cellar, fish pond, sheep, goats, whatever is practical. And you produce food.

Learn basic knife skills, butchery, vegetable processing, baking, curing, roasting, stocks soups and sauce making, pickling and preserves. All of these skills will help you to reduce your overall annual food cost because you will be better prepared to deal with seasonal price fluctuations as well as any fluctuations in individual food stuffs, which could happen as regional governments meddle in the production and consumptions of various products. Example: if Arnold in California declares no romaine lettuce is to be shipped out of the state, because he wants to hold onto it, the price is going through the roof everywhere else. Get used to cooking whatever is local and start figuring out what other products/food stuffs you haven’t considered before, but which are suitable for your climate and region.

If you understand food storage and production you may be better suited than most, to protect yourself against rising food prices.

Hunting is also very useful and practical. I am so shocked that wild boars are being slaughtered in Texas and Missouri and elsewhere. Sure, slaughter them, but pull the things out of the bush and use them. Cure them. I guarantee that the meat is delicious. Domesticated pig breeds, now wild and roaming the country side eating farmer’s crops from the day they are born until the day they die, plus any delicious wild plants they may eat.

If I was allowed to kill those boars with no upper limit, I’d set up a proscuitto ham business and start killing. Some proscuitto hams, that people buy, are 60 years old! Meat, at room temperature, 60 years old! All you need is salt and a place to hang them for a long time. This is top-quality delicious gourmet food and it can be yours, with a little learning and work.

Practical skills of all sorts and grit are what’s going to make it in the years to come. I think practical people in the American countryside could thrive!

Like that Hank Williams Jr. tune, Country Folks Will Survive, it’s their practical skills he’s referring to, including food-related ones like how to skin a buck and run a trout line. Food is important, learn more about money saving tips.

In this you will learn that how everyone can produce food through different ways because as everybody knows that food’s prices are rising day by day.  In this situation, you can help yourself and save your money using thrifty ideas.
